Only Found One Old Coin Tonight, And I Have Never Been So Shakin Up!!!!

Well-known member
Well tonight it happened! I have finally found one if the coins i dream about finding! I decided to drive about 35 miles north of Richmond to a park some crazy guy form Indy just found a Seated Quarter not to long ago :) He also is a member of this forum :bouncy:

This park has been pounded and pounded "like all the parks i hunt" I actually walk around for a little over an hour before i even found a conductive sound! I wasn't coming up with anything to interesting in the middle of the park or around the playground equipment so i decided to go circle some trees! The first one i came to was one of the smaller trees in the park! I came around the side and all of a sudden got an ear shattering high tone :surprised: Something that i am not used to! I have to work for all the coins i find! It was so loud of a tone it actually sounded shallower than what it was, I opened up a plug and dug down about 7 inches not getting my hopes up!! i popped out a coin and still didn't realize what it was... I picked it up and as Bryce would say " I almost filled my shorts" The back was completely covered with dirt but i could see the Seated Lacy on the front,, And let me tell you.. That is a good site to see!!!!!! I picked up my detector and ran over to show my buddie and almost freaked out when i dropped it in the high grass and couldn't find it :rage: I felt like a idiot and i had to turn my detector back on just to find it loli got over to Tim and he couldn't believe it either.. We could make out 1877 through the dirt...
I couldn't be more happy with this coin... The only problem is that it was in a low area that fills with water regularly and it wasn't to nice to the coin

It wouldn't bother me if i didn't find another silver coin for the rest of the season! This quarter made my year.. Well thank you all for looking!! and sorry the pics are bad, i couldn't get the lighting right!!!

Good luck everyone!!

HAHA Im sorry jim... Im breaking the roles!! There is no way in H@# i am putting her back lol If you wanna know what one sounds like,, I can bring it over

That park sounds like the parks I frequent...nothing but low conductors for hours...then a screamin' "warbler" out of nowhere:clapping:

Holy #@$%...That thing is awesome!Them seated have eluded me so far..Id be happy with that for the year myself!!One Heck of a story too.Thx for posting that.Im all pumped up now and rdy to dig..Congrats!!!!

Sweet qtr Derrell! I knew it must have been a nice one by the way you sounded on the phone. I love seeing silver come out of that park. Bet you'll be making a return trip soon. We'll have to get together there and hunt before the ground freezes..

OK OK show off.... what day were you there? I was there yesterday... all day. Quiet place aint it? Ended my day with a 1883 IH, a shot up 2 cent piece like Phil has, 3 kids rings, some change, and oh ya.... did i mention the 1877 S dime? Tuff hunting isnt it Darrell? But that sure doesnt match your 1877 that was a great find bud. Nice meeting you Phil. Man Phil has almost as many detectors as Darrell has coils.

By the way id like to thank Phil. There isnt many of these old parks around. That was one nice plat book you have with tons of reasearch info. Id say if you show the farms the history like that it sure gets you in the door. Oh one more thing.... you must live in the buggest place in IN. I had to stop 3 times because i litterly couldnt see to drive. Thanks again for your research and an opportunity to meet you.

CONGRATTS Derrell. Beautiful find !! You know what they say ..... the harder you work, the luckier you get !!
That coin was waiting for you.
I've only ever found one seated quarter so far - 1838. It has a dark patina but the features are outstanding - must have been new when lost.
It was getting dark when I found it and I assumed it was a CLAD!!!! I almost, like you say, "loaded my pants" when I got home and saw the eagle through the dirt on the back.
