Old coin hunter

Found this little key which i really have no idea what it would have fit. Handcuffs, strongbox or a regular type padlock. HH Jim

If the insert part of the key only had one side then I would guess older handcuff key. I remember as a young kid having a key pretty close to that for my piggy bank. Small door on the bottom with a simple “lip over” piece that secured the small door used for emptying.

I was kinda thinking the same thing, but it is a very sturdy key. It’s 1 5/8 inches long and just under a 1/4 inch diameter and heavy. Who knows. HH Jim

I agree, it looks quite sturdy to be for a piggy bank.
I was thinking that too at first.

It kind of looks like some of the old grandfather clocks winding keys. Or, maybe a key for leg irons. HH Jim tn
