One Yard Bananza

Well-known member
While out camping, we went detecting. Hit a couple places and didn't do much of anything till the last place. We saw there was a vacant home and there happen to be a guy mowing it so we stopped and Larry talked to the guy about detecting the yard. After a phone call, the owner said we could. Well, I didn't last long and didn't find much of anything there. I did find an old junk ring and a few clad coins. Then we went to another and I hit the jackpot. I found two Indian cents 1902 -1906, 1952 Quarter, 13 Wheats, 1 large Boy Scout pocket token, and a token good for 5 cents in trade at Kenney & Kenney. I can't find any info on the Kenney token. There's no town either. The coins weren't more than 3" down. One of the Indian cents was about an inch and a half deep. Unreal. All in all we had a good time. I'm ready to go back.

By the way, I had to buy dinner that night since I found the oldest coin.

The weather was unbelievable. Wish it would stay like this.

Sorry for the poor picture. I was tired!

Thanks for looking and HH,
Nancy

Your on a great roll Nancy!! Your posts are putting spark back into somewhat of a lame summer of hunting !!

Thank you for the comments. :) It has been awful dry here to hunt but when you have permission, you go with it and be VERY careful. The temps are lower than usual around Illinois and it was great getting out to do some detecting. HH, Nancy

nice hunt! love old yards. after last yrs devastating drought- we are muddy soft and slushed up. at least we can dig. what mode and coil did you use?

Thanks for the comment. :) I used the relic mode and stock coil. That's usually my "go to" coil. I have many coils but I really like that stock. I've been thinking of trying the butterfly coil again and seeing how it does. Try not to get too muddy.......and HH, Nancy

Good hunt, never know whats going to turn up,more fun in old yards, part of the hunt is finding good sites.Bought my MXT new in 02,have 4 coils for it and still use the 950 more than the others.Use other newer and older detectors also but the MXT always comes for the ride.

Boy, isn't that the truth beau61 about the stock coil. I have many coils for my OLD MXT and I usually always revert back to the stock coil. It's a keeper for sure. Researching does wonders also and I'm pretty good at that. It's great to hear that someone else has the old MXT and respects it as I do. It can run with the big boys. HH and thanks, Nancy

The stock coil is very underrated, I use the 6x10 for coverage, but when I want depth and discrimination the stock is the answer
