one weekend's finds

Went out to a new mall being constructed here in Tennessee, which happens to sit right on top of core battleground from the Battle of Stones River. Found these two items about 100 yards apart. US first, then when I thought it could not get any better, the CSA popped out of the ground. I saw the hooks on the back first, and knew I had something good. When I turned it over and saw the C.S.A., I went completely brain stupid. I stared at it like I had no idea what it was. When the oxygen started flowing again, it was a great feeling.

The only other things I dug were some nails and other trash. Not even a bullet, but I guess I won't complain too much.

OMG!!!! You hit the jack pot!! Relic hunters once in a life time find!
You can have that CSA straighten out perfect if you want.
Check Hallowed Ground Restorations on the web they do great work.

Congratulations!!!

Hey, that's an amazing find! I can relate to that - literally! My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was 5th Sergeant with Co.A, 11th Reg't, Ky Infantry and fought at the Battle of Stones River. He fell ill in Columbia, TN in Mar/Apr'62 and was given medical furlough to return home to Ky. He rejoined his unit in Oct '62. While he was out, he luckily missed the Battle of Shiloh, which his unit participated in, but was there for the fight in Murfreesboro. He had 2 brothers in his same unit, one of which died of typhoid in Nov'62.
It was a rough time for all.

Sorry for my ramblings, but it's neat to kinda personalize the old finds sometimes.:wiggle:
