More adventures [and misadventures] of B.. Mac...............

Alice is born and gets her first snowmobile ride.

I tell you, there is no possible way I could have lived even a fraction of her mothers life

She had strength few today could even approach:

I have thought many times of the storys Alice told about her days cooking in the camps. The days ALICE cooked in the camps, I can not remember if they were lumber or mines, I think lumber. I will never forget the one about the dang dog licking the banty chick!!

I have often thought that it is a shame she does not take an interest in writing those story's down. Like I tell my mom, if she does not relate the story's they are gone when they pass and that is a great loss for us all. What they were and how they lived is important to all of us and we can learn from it. The world now needs people with the stones they showed!

and only our generation or older can appreciate the hardship. Thanks bud, i'm hooked!

The folks did everything they had to do to survive those tough times. I read where they had the -60 degree weather and no insulation in the house. I wonder how the woman from Arkansas ended up in Canada? I would not have minded living back in the forest, but then again, I am not the one having to haul water for washing clothes or for cooking. Washing clothes was evidently a full time job. Right at the end of the last page, I can't wait to see about the brush fire advancing at 60 MPH... Mike, this is really interesting reading! I am so thankful to you and Alice for sharing this with the Forum, I am enjoying every minute of reading about life back in that time of history. Kelley (Texas) :)

Certainly they will not be as gripping or full of those experiences that Alices' mother had....... But, for our children they should, I hope, be entertaining. Small snippets of everyday life that helped to shape us into who we are today.

And yes, That dog with the bantam chick... I never saw a dog look so guilty. :):

for washing, cooking, drinking in those temps and says, it was a little hard... One tough lady for sure. Your wife Alice sure comes from
hardy stock. Hard way to make a living for sure in those times......

that Alice is one of the toughest and most capable people I have ever met and now I can see why. She had one remarkable mother! They were a different breed back then. If they wanted to get something, it was not provided for them, they worked for it.
Again, it is no surprise to me that Alice had such a mother. Again, I wish Alice would pen her early experiences. I have heard some of her story's and they are facinating. It would be a shame for them to be lost some day

Mikie I doubt if Alice's Mother thought of her life as anything special, but when she managed to survive each of these set-backs and keep forging ahead against the tide, she set a fine example for her family and for the rest of us as well!

Thanks again Friends for allowing us to share in this story of a life filled with meeting challenges head on,

CJ
