One on the land, one in the water!!!

I decided yesterday morning I needed to do a little dirt diggin' with my land AT Pro. I've got one AT Pro outfitted with the upgrade shaft, headphone adapter w/Killer Bee headphones and running the stock DD coil. I headed over to a neighboring town, before daylight to beat the oncoming heat, to work the OLD house lot I have permission to hunt. This lot is covered w/square nails and chunks of rusty iron sheeting. It took me about 5 mins. roaming around to find a spot free of debris to GB the ATP. I set it in Pro mode, Zero disc, Iron disc at 30, Sens. 5 bars, Iron Audio Off. I worked the lot for about 3 hrs. before the heat got me and I retreated. Not too may keepers but I did manage to pluck a couple of buffalo nickles out of that rust soup. Now, for those of you that only dig by what the VDI sez, please let me go with you on your next hunt so I can dig those signals you pass by. One of the buffs hit right where I expected it to, 50-51 at a measured 3 inches. The other came in at 40-41 at a measured 5 inches, not where I expected. If it sounds good and is repeatable, I dig it Here's the total take for the day!!!!

I threw in a few square nails just for fun, there's tons of them here!!

And what I had to dig to get that!!!

Here's the 2 buffs after cleaning and much as I dared!!! They must have been dropped when they were fairly new and you can still read the "F" under that date and the "D" mint mark.

I'm thinkin' somebody has hit this place before, even tho the owner said no one has, since this makes 6 buffs and one V nickle I've scared up and not one old silver coin. I have got 3-4 wheats, but mainly the old nickles

Today, I woke up to hear the water calling me, so I loaded up my water AT Pro, which is mounted on a Plugger straight shaft, Gray Ghost underwater phones, and the 6 x 9 coil, same setting as the land hunt. Again, I was out there before daylight to beat the heat and to get some alone time before the contributors showed. Pickin's were slow, but when I got out of the water I had a few coins, a nice little 925 band and a junk toe ring along with plenty of the hated pulltabs and a couple of toys!!!

Here's the good and bad for the 3 1/2 hrs.

I've got to say, even tho I've had to send my first ATP back to the Garrett Hospital 3 times and the second one in once (just for the upgrade) I am in no way sorry I bought them. The ATP will get the loot under some extreme conditions, better than any other detectors I've got, and I've got quite a few!!

[size=large]i'd be interested in your opinion between the ATP and the MXT PRO if you own a mxt pro. would welcome a p.m. about them. i'm considering the purchase of an ATP but must sell either my xlt or my newly aquired mxt pro. just fishing for experience.

IF it took U 5 minutes to find a place to ground balance the detector, U deserve an atta boy for sure or somebody needs to shoot your hard head for not leaving after 5 minutes. But That's what seperates real determination from dreamers and talkers . Living in the state of Texas is always hot in the summer, but this year seems crazy dry for a lot of folk around that area. I think I could hear the water calling me all summer out there. Adios e Thanks 4 the pics.....

Of all the brands I have, Whites is not one of them. I have a buddy that swings an MXT and he does alright with it...after he gets thru getting it set up to go after powerup!! I've usually got a few finds in my pouch before he even gets started...but that may just be him.

Well, it's been said I'm about a half bubble off of plumb, but since I have so few old sites to hunt, I didn't mind the extra few minutes of strolling around looking for some clean ground. And you're right about the heat, was 112

Shoot, I'm just trying to hang with you on the rings!! And it ain't easy either!! I gave up a long time ago trying to keep pace on the old coins!!
