One of those things I had intended to, but forgot to post about the 3KHz coil.

Last fall on a rather nice day I went to a beach that has some age to it, late 1800's, therefore having some possibility of silver. And also this beach does have some heavy iron concentrations in areas.

But I thought that if there was some deep silver hiding, the 3KHz coil might be able to get deeper than some of the many detectors I've drug over this location. One of the things I had determined to try was using Prospecting Mode for greater depth. I didn't find any silver that day but I did observe something that might be of interest to relic hunters. And that is, the 3KHz coil can see very deep large iron objects in Prospecting Mode that the Coin & Treasure will not even make a whisper on.

There were two instances where I dug down about 3ft and said to heck with it, so I never recovered the targets. I'm not a relic hunter, but my understanding is that some have considered using two box detectors to go after large deep iron objects like shells. Before I plunked down the cash for a two boxer, I'd give the 3KHz a go in Prospecting Mode. I'm not making wild claims about it, I just ran across a certain behavior that I have no use for, quite the opposite, but it could bear a little more investigating by those that might get some benefit from it.

How do you find the machine in noisy mineralised ground? I have the six inch hf dd coil on mine and in mineralised ground it is so noisy you cant tell the difference between a hot rock and a good target. The hot rocks produce a loud signal which drown out the softer gold signals. Plus if you dont continually ground balance the machine will blank out good targets.I run in tracking mode, which is very slow at recovering after a signal, and you have to detect very slowly. be in touch seeya Neilo
