One of the many things that make this hobby GREAT

While on a hunt two days ago, I found what I thought was a piece of junk. When it came out of the tumbler after cleaning, I discovered the junk was a dog ID tag and the owner's name and address, along with the dogs name was inscribed on the back. I checked the phone book and sure enough, she was listed. Rather than just throw the tag away, I called her to let her know I found the tag and I had expected her to tell me to round file it. This elderly lady nearly broke down crying on the phone she was so happy to get her dogs tag back. To make a long story short, she and her dog met me at the park this morning and you would have thought someone gave her the Hope Diamond she was so happy. She turned out to be an elderly lady and the light that shown in her eye made every pull tab, bottle cap and other assorted junk I have dug well worth it and I will gladly do it over and over again if it will bring joy to someones heart and I would bet the mortgage the majority of the men and women that enjoy this hobby feel the same way. Keep em swingin and HH, Nampa 23.

What a great story. Thank you for sharing that. Very good deed and Karma will shine on you, Beale.

Great story....

That was really nice of you.

Glad to hear you followed up and were able to return the dog's tag. Something you might consider is calling her again and ask if you can detect her yard! Karma works in mysterious ways! HH Randy

The tag I found wasn't anywhere near as old as those beauties you found. Those look like real collectors items. HH and keep on swingin, Nampa 23.

...sorry to upset or offend.
Not my intention.
Perhaps insensitive on my part.

Thats cool for sure..I found a high school grad ring of some girl and tried to do my best in getting it back to her// I tried and tried and i guess to some its very important. to others its trash i guess..great job it made it all worth it..

At least you made the effort. I think the thrill of returning someones lost property adds a real sense of personal satisfaction to this hobby. Hope you have the chance to return much more in the future. HH Nampa 23.
