anyone will see me posting one of these that was recovered locally. I got this last weekend with the Edge, wimpy grip and all. :D Obviously, CW relics only show up extremely rarely around here and when I find one (especially around here) it trips my trigger more than hitting old seated. Now seriously, if anyone thought I was implying below that I'm not happy with the Edge... well then I must have given the wrong impression because I do like it a lot. In fact, I recently chose between it and a recent same class competitor and moved "the other one" out. ;)

I apologize that this NY coat is all crusty and corroded but I have not yet cleaned it by means of navil gellie and wyre brusch. Disclaimer: I did not recycle this button from previous finds I made in VA or anywhere else. I did not buy this on Ebay and then act like I had dug it. Several folks from our club actually were present when I dug it and will testify to that fact in a court of law.

A friend of mine comes down here to Virginia at least once a year from Cleveland.

Hes found a few good buttons here but has never found a plate.

He DID find one, a CW US Belt plate, in a patch of woods near Cleveland Ohio a while back.

Thank God for soldiers who brought home souvenirs!

Same thing here Brad, finds like that are rare but make em all the more exciting when they dp turn up. I find minnies once in a while but then last year I got that nice Sharps and a couple years back even a Union C staff button!

I have found 3 plates....
NONE hunting in VA....all up here at homesites. (I'll have to post 'em sometime). John S. dug 2 last year at a cellar hole as well. I also have found lots of Civil War "bootins" @ homesites...last year even a Virginia "Confedorite" one. No idea how that gut here?

research all the previous landowners of a site where a good relic turns up. I figure there's at least a good chance that one could find a period vet somewhere back there, but I procrastinate instead. :(
