One of my MD club buddies said that on the DFX forum...

there was a discussion about going to the bank and getting large amounts of Kennedy halves, sorting through them and pulling out the silver ones.

Any body see that discussion? I forgot to ask him which DFX group he belonged to. He said there were still some silver halves.

Winter is coming soon to SoCA and I want to still hunt for silver indoors. (today is 75* and breezy) It almost got down to 40 last night. Going to hunt an old park tomorrow, dates back well over 100 years and has been hunted to death. (but I have satellite pics and see some old feint roads and oak tree clumps.

I always wanted to try it. And like Brian said...you can still get silver. I think Ed got a bunch of Merc's in a roll once. My truck driver "Kenny" got a $1 silver certificate yesterday in change. Ya never know but keep your eyes peeled and you'll be surprised sometimes at what ya get.

... have saved old coins in rolls. When they die, their kids come to town to settle out the parents affairs .... one of the last two things the kids do is take merchandise that has been unopened and try to return it to stores, with or without a receipt ... regardless of how old and sun / moisture damaged the packaging may be, and try to make the merchant feel horrible about being "unfair" they we won't give them "their" money back on product we don't even sell. Sometimes it's private label from another buying group or one of the big box stores .... enough rant ...

The second thing they do is take all of "grandpa's or grandma's rolled coins they find to the bank and exchange it for currency.

In the past we've received from the bank rolls of old pennies, dimes, and nickels .... no quarters yet.

... I have had a couple guys ask for job hiring preference because they were a veteran, and if they were equally qualified with someone else who was not a Vet, the Vet would get the job.

Unfortunately, the Vets that asked me for job preference were both unemployed due to their inability to hold a job because they seemed to be just plain stupid, unskilled, drunk, on drugs, or all of the above.

I kid a lot about the problems some of the geezers cause, but in reality, most of our "Seasoned Citizens" are a real pleasure to deal with. The one's causing problems were likely causing the same problems when they were youngsters.

But cannot understand the digital lifestyle, conducting commerce, etc. my 86 year old father thinks that the stock people at W-mart should wait on him like they did at the corner market in the 30's,
