One of my Idaho Finds, Anybody Know the History?

This metal is from 1926. It reads "Nautilus Navel Beach" and Gold Metal Club on the back and is dated 1926. I'm still working on cleaning it up. It is going slow, but the gunk is coming off. It was found in front of a small wood cabin from about 1910. I'm pretty sure it is from Florida and may have something to do with a Navy base or school. It was down about 6 inches in the dirt. I'm pretty sure it's either brass or gold plated. It could be solid gold, but I don't think so. It looks pretty much like gold under a bright light and is pretty heavy for it's size. I'm still not able to make out all of he writing on the back. I'm taking my time cleaning it as not to ruin it. It may not be worth much, but it's a darn neat find, very unusual. Found with the X-70, 6" 18.75 kHz DD coil.

Thanks, John K

I wonder if that might say The Nautilus, Miami Beach instead of Naval? The Nautilus, Miami Beach is now a section of Miami Beach. Back in 1926, it was a resort style hotel. That is what I believe is pictured on the medal.

Learning more about which gold medal club this represents might be found in the wording at the top of side with the date. JMO HH Randy

You guys are right. I didn't see it until I really looked at the enlarged picture. I posted it and didn't have time to really study it. I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the gunk off of it. It was a long way from Miami. Thanks for finding the history of the metal. I'm sure that old hotel is long gone.

Thanks, John K

Wow Digger, you never seem to stop impressing me.
How in the world did you manage to dig up pics on it?

Did you google it by any chance?
