One of my favorite coin finds.....................

This was my 1st buffalo nickel. The picture doesn't do it justice. It has a great green hue to it that makes the face really stick out. The odd thing about this find was that I found it at the beach in 2001 or 2002. I was in Long Beach one day and saw these huge trucks moving sand around on the beach. The must have taken at least 2 feet of sand off this one section. Got some silver coins, this buffalo, and a nice Ford token from 1940. I've only found 13 buffalos since 1999 and this one is by far the best one.

I'd say just about all the ones I've found were mixed in with or next to trash. I remember a couple of times where I've found deep mercs and then stuck my Sunray probe back into the hole and got a buffalo a little bit deeper in the same hole. I love it when that happens :twodetecting:

That was the best era for coins. The Buffalo Nickel, Standing Liberty Quarter, Indian Head Penny, Walking Liberty Half. All were beautiful. I can't see why we don't just start issuing coins exactly like those. They tried with the buffalo but some bureaucrat seems to think we need to redesign everything we reissue. Why, just start making Indian Heads with the year 2008. Don't change a thing!!
