One of My Customers hits it BIG - REAL BIG with his GPX4000 & Coiltek 14 Mono

I can't tell you who, and I can't tell you where, but I can tell you it is a long time customer of mine, who I sold one of the first GPX4000's to. He has been a long time prospector and an avid user of COILTEK coils.

On this particular outting he was armed with his GPX4000 and a COILTEK 14 inch MONO coil, and just happened to stumble over a slug.

Here's his letter:

"On December 22nd I was covering some old ground of mine and ended up in just the right spot when I heard a target. From out of the mud and snow at 15 inches I retrieved this little speck of gold, all 11.24 ounces of it. It said it was looking for a new home and with Christmas coming and all I decided to be charitable and take it in.

It is possible that the GPX4000 with the 14 inch Mono Coiltek Coil had something to do with it."

(I guess you could say that A GPX4000 with COILTEK COIL is a real nugget finder; looks like a pretty deadly combination!)

I called this customer when the GPX4000's came out and told him I had reserved him the same serial number as his GP3500. It just so happens that he has been very successful with his 3500 so I told him I didn't want anyone else to get the serial number of the 4000 before he got a shot at it. He took it right away. It is a 00XX serial number, less than 0016.

After this find he wants me to reserve the same serial number for the next Gold Machine Minelab comes out with!

I tell you, some guys can find gold, and some guys can just sell the machines that find gold, I guess I am the latter.

Wishing you all a Happy New Year and Nuggets at least as big as this chunk!

Dang! That is one big slug! Nice work whoever. I recognise that type of ground and it's not Nevada or Arizona. That's California Mother Lode, look at the cobbles under those pine needles. Might even be a hydraulic pit but could be an old ground sluicing area.

I know there are still some big ones like that in some of those areas but man, are they frustrating to hunt. A thousand pieces of iron to every piece of gold. Still, it should serve as encouragement to all, no one gets them all, even in the "hunted out" patches!
