One of everyones' favorite places...............

Sven

Well-known member
..............during the 1960-1980's.
I took these pictures a couple weeks ago.
Mill pond and dam from the 1800's. Great place for fishing and swimming and frolicking in the water.
Around the middle 1980's property owners placed No trespassing signs at all points leading to access to the area.
Mainly to curb all the drinking parties taking place. Not sure how many kids go down to the spot these days....

These pictures show the place during drier months, usually there's more water flowing.

Just to the right of center is a flat area we called the shoot. About a 20' long area. When enough water flows over the dam, it was
a fun spot. Start at the dam falls, lie on your back and you go for a rush ride down to the deeper pool.

The mill pond used to be pretty deep behind the dam, now shallow due to silting in

When we were kids, the water flowed over the dam at a higher flow rate, there was enough water that we could duck behind the falls
flowing over the dam.

Looking Downstream

Here's a place we called the Black Bridge, its a railroad bridge crossing the creek. There was a large deep pool just to the left of the bridge,
it held some of the biggest bass around. The pool became a bit shallower under the bridge and just the other side of the bridge was a 12' deep pool
that measured about 20x30 feet. It was a favorite swimming spot, for jumping off the bridge into. These days the pool has silted in, doesn't look like its more than 5' deep.
It also held a lot of keeper size bass.
