HI all, I was very active in detecting about 20 years ago, mostly hunting some of the old Chicago parks & some Woods that had some history. I put the detector down for many years and recently got the bug again.

GTI 2500 is still the flagship for the Garrett brand. Imaging technology surpasses audio and the ability to detect size before you dig weeds out a lot of trash. I supposed the only thing left for Garrett to do is to combine the imaging with the audio but that may take a lil while. If your really set on one of the newer detectors then you should get an ACE 250 now and if your still into the hobby next spring then there should be plenty of AT Pros on the shelf.

Good luck with the AT Pro Bud. It should make hunting easy for you. It'll be lighter than the Safari too.
It sounds like there was something going on with the Safari as it has good target ID. It's a very good detector, but one that needs to be swung slowly.(It's possible that you put a second target through it's field before it had time to reset, would be my guess on what happened there.) The AT Pro will be fairly easy to master over the Safari. The Safari will give fairly good audio info, but it takes a while to learn it. While I don't have one myself, I do have an SE Explorer which standard tones are the same as the Safari.
Given that you have used an analog detector, the modulated tone on the AT will mimic to some degree, what you're used to hearing. I don't know how far as yet as nobody has used one yet, but time will tell.

Don't think you could go wrong with the AT and it's the latest technology whereas the other detector ain't. I imagine the AT, especially in Pro Mode will have quite a learning curve but then you have the Standard Mode which would be like hunting with the 250 and if you're in a hurry you could start with the 350 and graduate up to the AT when it comes out.
