one more time at the Habitat

Got up early and read the forums like usual...56 degrees out, and I was dreading working the water...I swung into that Habitat yard again at sun-up and fired up the 70 to give it another sweep. It had gotten another good raking and some dirt piles sort of scattered down somewhat, grass was not planted, sort of looked like somebody on a quad dragged a small disc through there, and flattened it out with some chain link drag...Hit a 1910 wheat, a 37 buff, some sort of button top, and what I think is a chinese coin! (my first!) [attachment 298701 china..jpg] Not being an expert, I believe its quite old...most likely dates from the 'Park' dynasty, since I can see on the other side what looks like a picnic table next to a pine tree, and theres what looks like a basketball hoop and a teetertotter too..![attachment 298700 button.jpg] I believe this button came off of Custers coat, just another guess, and the buffalo was dropped by Dwight Eisenhower when he was a kid....I did make it into the water for a nice long unproductive soak...although I did scoop up a rusty bolt that I figure is part of the Titanic wreckage...

Yes sir, another good hunt. Another couple of :beers: and you may in fact find the rest of the Titanic and Custers coat and sword. Love it when fellow detectorists have a banner hunt. HH jim tn

I like those old buttons and the old nickel seem to be just as scarce.:thumbup:---------IB

Thanks guys...I learned a lot from this place, it gave me several 'firsts'...I think I'm done here, maybe one more spin through, I know it pretty good now...where the good dirt is etc...I also got to learn the Hab volunteer schedule, and the best times to hit a Hab site..(Sun am)....small lot, maybe 50x100 so it takes no time at all to cover it...plus I pulled all junk targets out of the way...If theres another great find in here, I know right where it will most likely be, in a small area where the main dirt pile was before the original scrape off...one more scrape and rake out should bring it within my range..

a 'D' mint with a 3-legged Buffalo on the reverse? That would make a nice Buffalo 5¢ find.
