One more question about the 3 Khz coil and X70

It has been mentioned that the X-Terra 3 khz coil likes silver and copper better. By better is it meant it will find them deeper than the stock coil or it will just respond better?

The design engineers tell us that lower frequency detectors offer more sensitivity to higher conductive targets, such as silver and copper. And lower frequency detectors also provide better overall depth and trash rejection. So I guess the answer to your question would be Both! I won't argue with the experts. But in my opinion, the depth of detection between 9-inch concentric frequencies is pretty much the same. As well, I've found as many silver and copper coins with the high freq coil as I have the low. With that in mind, I like the 3 kHz as much for what it "doesn't do" as for what it "does do". By that I mean, if it is more sensitive to higher conductive targets, wouldn't that indicate it should be less responsive to lower conductive targets like aluminum and iron? Makes sense to me. When I am hunting an old homestead, I'm convinced that the 3 kHz concentric provides a much more distinct "low iron growl" on those deep scraps of iron, than the other two freqs. JMHO HH Randy
