One More Cibola Post

Man I can't believe this machine, either the Cibola is just that good or we just seem to jive together. Today I turned up the sens. set disc. just above iron cranked the threshold about 3/4 of the way, and I couldn't believe how much more depth & sensitivity I got and still able to pinpoint extremely well. I walked away with a handful of nickels, not counting all the other coins. To me any detector that finds nickels is a good detector. It was only my 3rd. day with the coin magnet I mean Cibola and I already have a pretty good idea of what the target and depth will be before I dig. If anyone is considering buying the Cibola I say go for it, I guarentee you will be glad you did. I love mine. Best detector I have ever owned. Thanks! Steve.

Nicely said Ski. I am considering trading my V for a C, just because the gB is an annoyance I dont need. Plus, I just cant seem to jibe with it, which is important, too. Lets hope the Fisher 1236x-2 will jibe better.

I did just the opposite!!!! I hunted a really trashy park so I cranked up the disc and lowered the sens. What a difference!!!! I cherry picked coins for a couple of hours before I gave up. I'll definitely do this place again and again. I figure after awhile you can go back to a lower disc and dig all the other goodies!!!!

P.S. Thanks to Davhut for all your suggestions

My Cibola rocks!!!!!!

Ive been doing the same at my fairgrounds, using the Golden - THE unsung hero of the Tesoro line-up.

I stake out my grid square and then, contrary to my usual advice, I crank UP the DISC to pulltab. Digging all the tones above that mark I load up on Zincers, all the Cu's, Dimes and Quarters. And occasionally I find a neat high range doo-dad. The other day it was a little shield-shaped medallion, singin' in that high pitched voice that catches your ear oh, so, sweetly!.
Then I go back to "Nickel Notch" DISC and go the other way, at right angles to my previous pattern. Normally, I turn up one or two coins that I missed the first time due to trash masking and higher DISC settings.

Doing this I clean up the coins, 'natch, and of course all the trash, foil bits, lightbulb bases and the other untold treasures!

At this point I might crank the SENS to max and start overlapping sweeps diagonally to the others. I say, "might," because I have some idea of this spots background and there is little reason to suspect that greater things lie in wait deep below. I try it from time to time - about every third grid - and my theory is so far correct. Nuttin' old!

BONUS:
I could just cherrypick and be happy, but I continue to torture myself with this exhausting method for one reason. GO HERE here to find out what that reason is:

SO far the only jewelry that has come up is a coupla Cheapo ID bracelets and a small gold locket. And I did find one old Wheatie on the far side. But, hey it gets me out of the house!

Nice post Dave!!! I my hunt I realized there were just far too many signals to dig everything so I cranked up the Disc to accept pennies and above. I still dug almost a hundred targets in 2 hrs and this place is still littered with signals!!! My one really nice find was a small sterling ring, so the possibilty of other jewelry does exist. I figure I can hunt this place a few more times successfully and then try to grid it. My problem is it's right in the center of the nearest city and many people are curious! I hope none of them have detectors:(
HH to all
Greg

They do, lots detectors are in lots of closets. Someone sees you and they think theyre missing out, so yes, others might come. Heres one way to view that:

You get it all. Or you dont.
Someone else gets it all. Or they dont.
Either way, you die and leave it behind.
Act accordingly.

Get greedy if you like and come up with ways to beat the others. Another respondent says hunt at night. Thats another way.

But what matters is if you have fun and enjoy your little corner of life. Any way that works for you.
Me, I'd hunt it when and where I felt like it and try not to worry more about it.

Your fishing or hunting spot? Oh no, dont let that secret out. Im with you there!
