Tried a spot in an old park where I've had some success before. Temp was 70 F today, the grass is going to start growing now. That's bad in this park because they don't mow very often and when they do, they cut it high. Total time was two hours, not a lot of finds, but did find one Merc, a 1929D. It had a good silver signal at a depth of 8 inches or so, but when I turned 90 degrees, it was broken. The pictures shows why the signal was broken, it must have been laying on some rusty iron. The iron must have crumbled away, couldn't find it in the dirt pile. It was definitely 8 inches deep at least.

Nice silver rescue, bud. That old bobcat is cool too.

Nice save Doug. I love seeing the older Mercs in the dirt even though they're usually more worn. The iron is probably why everybody else missed it. Your experience and the minelab won out !

Nice find Doug.

I love finding silver with a "battle scar"...and by that I mean with an iron stain from being previously masked by iton.

Nice dig.

Nice hunt Doug. That was a deep merc.!
