I went back to an old house site tonight. I was hunting in the iron and debris center from where the house was demolished. I got a slight high tone and teased it to see a 94 vdi number. I dug a shovel full of dirt and the signal vanished. I moved the dirt around with my foot and still had nothing. I used the shovel to move the loose dirt out of the hole and still had nothing. I used my pin pointer and found a square nail. I picked it up and heard the hint of a high tone when I went over the loose dirt. Moved it with my foot and it was gone. Use the pin pointer again and pulled another nail. Went back over the loose dirt and had a screaming 94. I was thrilled to tease a really cool pattern button out of this stuff. This could easily have been a dime or something better. The nails masked the signal most of the time. I could easily have given up and walked away on this one. I think this is a good lesson and may help me be patient in the future. The other nice surprise of the night was a nice 1864 Two Center.
