One Day, Two Hunts!

Went on two hunts to sites I've hunted before. One I've been to atleast 12 times and have yet to cover the whole place. Not sure about the ring. I can only find one mark and even with a magnifying glass it could be an S or a 9. I'm leaning toward Stainless Steel, but hoping for .925.

Good hunts, Grumpy! That ring looks like it might be silver, cool moustache, too!

Great work! If that ring sounds like a dime or Q its probably silver, if it sounds low like a nickel, its probably stainless...it looks like silver though. I say "probably" because there so many different chrome and stupid metal amalgams out there its sometimes tough if they are not marked. The four metals we want to find by value at this time are Plat, gold, palladium, silver.

I found a larger magnifying glass. What I thought was an S or 9 is actually a 5. I don't remember what VDI number I got when I found it, I think somewhere around 89/

I found a larger magnifying glass and what I thought was a S or 9 is actually a 5. The VDI was 91/92, I think, I'll have to do a bench test. It is 6 grams.

Those both sound like silver - the '5' is probably a poorly struck or worn '925', and 89-90 VDI sounds good for silver, too. Congrats!
