One button on my CTX won't function

Ben Town

Member
Seems the User Funtion button won't work.
Should be able to hold it and bring up the menu, I've used it before, but nothing now.
Will a reset fix the problem?
Reset Settings or Reset All ?
I have everything backed up so I'll be safe
Thanks
BT

I suppose if you have it all backed up on a PC, and have the time to put it all back, then do the reset. Do you have the button set to 'toggle' back and forth between modes/programs, and does that still work? If it still will toggle back and forth, I would assume the actual switch is OK, so a reset may be the only option. If the button does not work, heck, you still have to try the reset 'settings' first then 'all' to see if that will 'fix' it, before sending it back for repair.

Hi Ben_Town -- If the factory reset does not work out for you, please email me at service@minelabamericas.com. We can also have you speak with a technician to see if there is anything else we can try before sending it in for repair.

Follow MLA Jamie's suggestion, contrary to what some say Minelab will take care of you and the problem.

After a couple of emails with MLA Jamie to work out details I was sent a shipping label and instructions to get the work done .
I've packed it up and shipped it off and will be back swinging in 7-10 business days .
All that in less than 24 hrs

Not that hard nowadays, I wasn't a Minelab user until the last 3 years so any problems before that I'm not personally aware of. To me, if something were to happen to my machine it wouldn't be an issue of.."damn warranty this or poor customer service that". That's all been fixed in a big way. MY biggest issue would be that I don't have my machine! It is that good.
I wouldn't think of even TRYING to use anything else right now to accomplish what the CTX has done. And yes, this is an advertisement for Minelab.
Happy hunting in a week or two Ben!

I agree, it's great that Minlab monitors the forums .
They can keep up with how there machines preform in the real world, the good and bad, not just bench testing in the shop.

Kudos for Minelab service! :beers:

From my experience minelab has always been there for that customers...Sometimes there's a wait
because of who's next in line... we all know when it comes to electronics things can and do go wrong..
Keep up the good work Minelab thanks all.....

My new CTX is stuck on the start screen- see that post. Jamie at Minelab went above and beyond to take care of me. I have read all the war stories going way back and still purchased the CTX. You just can't get around what their patented tech can do in the field. Yes there are some current issues I have read about regarding repair time as they revamp, but I sure CANNOT COMPLAIN about their customer service to date. Previously I had an issue with the WM-10 and a new replacement unit was to me in 3 days. I may only be 6 months into the CTX but my experience with Minelab could not be better-unless I would have had no experience with them on repairs.

Just an update on my CTX button problem.
It was shipped to Minelab Service Dept May 18 and I'll have it back Friday June 2, that's 18 days , not bad service.
I talked with the tech that did the work and they replaced the keypad , put the rubber strap that holds the USB cap , and checked it all out .
I'll have it back in time for the Bootcamp this weekend.
Thanks Jamie
