Once upon a broken curse!

Gulf Hunter

As many of you know, I was in a hell of a no gold spell. Finally, I broke out of the dismal funk last night. This would have been the 28th straight, no gold hunt, but it was not to be on this night. My previous record skunk was 25 hunts and now 27 has the title. I hope that I never have to go that long again!

I was in the water with the CZ21-10 at 9P on 03-09, into a 1256A -0.1L on 03-10 and SE winds at 15-20. Water was rough and seemed sanded up. There was some erosion in the beachface (lane) though. I hunted wetsand, as I have been trying every available option to break the spell. Targets were of good density there and most of the nut consists of these type of targets. Total clad take was $1.47 and had a copper chrome plated junker oval pendant. Here is the nut.

Along about 12A, I got a nice midtone, and when the sand drained out of the scoop, there it was! GLORY! It was the 1st gold piece with the CZ, but I think the Excal could have siganalled it, as it did not seem very deep. It is .05 troy ozs. and 10K, but it was a welcome sight, to say the least. Maybe I can put together a nice gold streak, now that the mojo has returned to me. I can't wait! Things got a little slow after 3A, so I bailed at 315A.

Great to find first gold of the year, from here on out its easy. How is the new machine?? Dig a gig. Speedy

Thanks Speedy, it's pretty nice and I have about 50 hours on the unit, so far. I am still unclear of it's absolute superiority to the Excal though. I intend to perform some depth testing in the surf, but won't know with absolute certainty, until I do so.

Great find mate, I've been hoping you'd break the drought. Things is looking up for ya. HH regards Nugget.:detecting:

Gulfhunter,

I don't understand your code as it's not consistant with anything I've ever seen.

Sounds more like a spy movie than metal detecting to me.

I know what CZ21 is but what's the -10? What's 1256A -0.1L mean?

As for your times I assume that 9P means 9pm or better still 21:00 which is world standard 24 hour clock time. Some people call it military time.

Congrats on the gold GH... I was gonna tell ya to get another PI if the drought continued lol..

The sands are definitely shifting here and I hope the same can be said for you in Texas. I haven't had anytime to hunt even though the conditions are good right now, new job with lots of responsibilities.
WTG Ya LOOTER!!:super:

Cheers Mate,

BDA:cool:

OK, lemme break it down for ya Mat, as when I speak to my mates I figure they are savvy, presumptuous on my part I'm sure. Fisher CZ21, with 10" coil at 9pm (we are civilians, so military is not mentioned) on the date 03/09, into a low tide of 1256am of -0.1 on the follwing day of 03/10, which I hunted until 315am, savvy? It is simply the introduction line to my stories, to give the viewers a glimpse of what is happening, without the shots with a camera.

Good on you GH.
Whenever I felt I was doing it tough I'd remind myself of the crappy run you'd been experiencing and I would pick up the dummy, wipe it clean and get stuck into it again!
Problem is mate, your too good! You've got it all!
Lou.
