Today is when we have to have the 'good faith' money into the realtor to be sure our offer on the place up north is being held for us.
We figured since I worked 80 hours the last 2 weeks of being employed as a security officer that the check would be here today for more than enough to cover the good faith amount. Since I have direct deposit we figured the pay stub would be here last night. At 5:30 PM the mailman arrived and no pay stub.
I called one of the managment guys at the head office and was told the checks were mailed out. I should get it today (Friday) or Saturday at the latest. I asked if it was going to be direct deposit or a 'hard' check. He said he didn't know but that it was mailed. Well, my mind started thinking that if the check is a hard copy and it comes today - after 5 PM it will be too late.
I called the former area supervisor and he knew one of the other officers had called wanting to know where her check was but knew nothing more about the checks. He did say he wondered if the company was having financial problems. He gave two examples of how they did not make payment on his phone card and for the parking permits - both with overdue payments on them.
He also said that the company can pay us minimum wage for our last check instead of the full pay we should get. I don't understand this concept at all. We weren't fired - we were all laid off. He said if they sent a check it may not even arrive til as late as Monday because of the 'holiday' (Resurrection Day).
I talked to one of the other officers who didn't get a check and she said she was told by the same member of management I talked to that the checks were mailed out late. (Now why didn't he tell me that?) She also said one of the other officers didn't get his check either.
We don't know if we will even get paid or have to go to a labor relations board to file a claim against that company. We don't know if we are going to get paid minimum wage or our full amount due us. We did get a letter from the president of the agency thanking us for our outsanding service to the company.
Ok so there ya have it the 'worse' my mind is coming up with to spoil our deal.
Now how God met our needs - even before we found out my check hadn't arrived or might not at all.
A few weeks ago Sherry plays computer games. She found one she makes a few dollars or cents from but it isn't for the money just fun. This one game seemed unusual. Well it was her favorite game but had something different about it. Even Sherry didn't know why they put the game up with the reward it had. She had fun playing and continued to play off and on until she had won $350! Not only did she win big bucks but so did anyone else who played that game rake in the do-ray-me.
She requested a check but it was to take 4 to 10 weeks before delivery of the check - certainly not going to be in time for us to use it for the good faith payment we needed to make.
Her check for the $350 arrived yesterday afternoon. The good faith offer is $300. God knew our needs and provided a way even before we knew there might be a problem.
Now I know all along God wasn't going to let us 'hang out to dry' not after bringing us this far. Yet even with the need met I was still upset about my check not being here for 'what we planned to do with it'. Ok I'm not the brightest coloring crayon in the box but I do know when God is on the throne and in control - even dispite me trying to do it my way.
Thank you Father God for providing a way and meeting the need. Forgive me for trying to be a control freak. Let your will be done. Praise and glory to you in Jesus name. Thank you Jesus!
