Hey Steve! I use the Swingy Thingy and have since I started with the Explorer. I have it hung so it's sort of like a heavy load on a crane. It just takes a little effort to move that suspended weight. As a matter of fact, the arm rest doesn't even get cinched up as it moves easily enough without having that hooked to the arm. A couple of days ago I put on the 12" Sun Ray to work the dry sand and also used the Swingy Thingy. Easy to trade to the other rod and worked just as good. In case you didn't know, the detector hangs from a bungee cord from a "D" ring in the middle of your chest. The strap that holds the "D" ring is anchored right above your left rear pants pocket like a suspender would hook. The weight distributes itself from your back pocket over your right shoulder and midway down your chest. The strap is wide enough that I don't even feel the pressure on my shoulder when wearing a light shirt. I've used it for hours and my neck is more uncomfortable from looking down than any problems with arms or back. The length of the bungee can easily and quickly be changed so the detector can just be sliding over the grass. After awhile I slump or the bungee stretches and in less time than it takes to read this sentence, you can pull on the bungee and adjust. A fringe benefit is if you have to do something with both hands, like blow your nose, you can just let the thing hang there. Hope this help. I am 65 so I need all the help I can get. Jim
