On the Excalibur which mode do you use most?

Do you hunt in Disc or All metal most of the time? The reason I ask is because I'm thinking about adding a mode switch on the handle grip, it will be water proof and more convienient than constantly reaching down to switch modes.

Disc 99.999% of the time on my Excals, but that just me.

Respectfully,
Larry

All Metal 95% of the time, Disc..when there is some many coins and trash , And your after the shallow Gold Only. Going for the the big switch on the handle like the SD2100 but water proof once I wear out the switch..for now I just reversed the Pod and tethered the headphone cord. So the PP/Disc switch is near the handle, it's just a matter of letting go of the handle and turning the knob with the same hand {very fast once you get use to the directions of PP to Disc then back}. A simple solution for a Reverse hunter with the Excals...let me know when you do your water proof button on the handle..would like to see some pic's or if mine wear's out soon, I will do a video on the Mod.....maybe a while just bought a all metal machine.........the Infinium Ls........Good luck.... .Joe

The Disc/All met switch is very cheaply constructed and sooner or later it will fail. I have replaced these kind of switches else ware.

Used to use Disc mode till i tried the AM and found a couple of good tatgets that just didn't register in Disc mode even knowing where they were(found in AM mode)since then as OBN says disc only in trash or lots of nails, the rest of the time in AM. It only takes 1 good find to pay for a new switch if it wears out or breaks and i can asure you you will get them in AM mode sooner or later

I use the reverse procedure and find something virtually every trip that I would have missed in disc. No rings yet, gold or silver, in that category though. HH

Beach hunting - All metal 95% unless I am really into a trash field.
Sod athletic field - discriminate/am 50/50
