On the beach

New member
Tried my MXT on the beach armed with 6x10DD and heaps of enthusiasm which turned to disappointment:rant: pretty fast.
I couldn't get my trusty MXT to settle down . We have heaps of black sand in Queensland AUS which seemed to shut down my normally bullet proof MXT. Is there some tricks I need to know about detecting beaches:shrug
: Any help would be greatly appreciated

I would put it in the prospecting mode and the trac toggle in the ground position pump the ground a couple of times then put it in lock that should help. If it don't try increasing the Dual Control SAT to Hyper SAT that should quite it down...............

Mesha, the MXT is not a favorite on our west coast beaches that have black sand. I've done well in Florida and Texas at the beach, they are pretty mild beaches. Rob

I tried my MXT in prospecting mode a few of times now, still getting use to it .
But one thing I have found is I can not pin point at all. Any ideas or is my detector on the blink:confused:

I have no problems pinpointing in all three modes with my MXT, with the 6 X 10 you use the front or rear tip of the coil........

Mesha, in prospecting mode there is no actual pinpoint feature. Unlike the other two modes the trigger squeezed and held "Temporally Disables (stops) ground tracking". In the other modes you also get depth readings.

When a target has been detected, the user usually hovers for a while over the target and makes repeated passes in order to decide whether or not to investigate the signal, thus, analyzing audio and display information. This hovering can often cause the detector to see more target than ground and cause the detector to think the target is ground and attempt to track into it. Squeezing and holding the trigger when analyzing the signal stops tracking and prevents errors. Rob

Thanks for your help guys it all makes a bit more sense now.:wacko:I'll get the hang of this thing yet:twodetecting:
