On dry farmland soil would i be correct in saying depth is crap

I have been detecting on some dryish rolled soil and have found zippo!
the ground is baked pretty dry though i was thinking this could be a factor why i am finding zippo.

Where do you live, are you getting any signals at all? There are a lot of factors involved so let us know some details.

Zippo...been in a lot of isolated old areas and sure were targets..
Ever think might not be anything of value in the ground as even in isolated areas bound to get some signals..Appears you have a faulty unit, no goodies in the ground or could also be operator error. Like Steve have to agree have to explain your situation in a more detailed fashion...in the hands of an experienced operator mighty good machine but operator error or just no targets to find all come into play.Personally would have an experienced Explorer user or perhaps a local Minelab dealer try it out to rule out a faulty unit..Gosh I hope your not discriminating out all targets...

It appears i had a duff coil. wasted dozens of hours detecting with a faulty coil . New coil has improved things. Good targets were nulling out a lot of the time.

i AM PRETTY SURE I HAVE GOT INTO A RUT IF YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN - I KEEP RE VISITING THE SAME CRAP SITES THAT GIVE LITTLE GOOD FINDS UP
Why you may ask well i just can,t seem to find any good sites these days as many seem worked out. I am thinking of moving to a better area to find better sites. I am finding a few coins but nothing special. I feel confident with the explorer detector and know it works well but if no good target is under the coil then its a looser. I am going to find some new sites now this is my number 1 priority!
