On a whim I bought a used Cortes

RKW

New member
Paid $350. Will come with two coils, a 9X8" concentric and a 12X10" concentric. I am hoping that if I don't like it I can resale it for close to what I paid for it. My only other detector is a Minelab Xterra 705. Anyone else here have an Xterra and a Tesoro? I was wondering what it feels like to transition between the two.

It might have just been me But I couldn't get rid of my 705GP fast enough to suit me! The Cortes is a way easier MD to Learn and Operate! Its TIDs and Graphs Don't Lie near as much as the 705 either!!! I also have a Deleon that I like a lot! If you want to sit at a site and play with adjustments half the time and still dig up crap, Take the 705! If you want to get to a site and search instantly take a Deleon or a Cortes! I have had both MDs and that's my Opinion.....GL & HH........Pat

Congrats to you! It is a great unit! I am sure you will like it just fine! I bet you end up liking it brtter than the 705, Beale.

Welcome to world of Tesoro I think it will be your favorite detector! Congrats , hank

For $350.00 and with 2 coils............. that's worth a try. But to pay near full price for a new Cortez...no way. There are just too many other more up to date offerings..... when it comes to a target id detector. Tesoro is obviously only interested in "beep and dig" their target id offerings are from the last century!! Heck there is even an new Fisher CZ coming out this year!!!
