On a silver streak with the F5

I have taken the F5 out three times now and found silver each time. Although I can't say much about the depth capabilities of this machine I have to say I sure is fun to use. None of the items in the picture were over six inches deep. I wasn't impressed with the quick air tests I did but all the targets shown locked on solid and I didn't think twice about digging. The 1895 half was a pleasure to find. It's been awhile since I've dug a half. The standing liberty quarter has no date but I'm glad to have it. The John Deere stick pin will go with the watch fob I found about a year ago. The only improvements I would like to see is that a better locking cam be used as the ones on this machine still allow the lower rod to move and that when using the pinpoint pad you have to be careful not to move the gain and threshold knobs. Maybe a trigger. Nevertheless, I see the F5 getting some serious swing time.

So how did this machine compair to others fishers. Did it lock in, is it fast, how does it do in iron and trash?

Personally, I like using it more than I did the F75 but that's just me. It's not as quirky as the F75. I have had no interference problems even around other machines. It's not the speed demon that the F75 is but it has a very good response time. The places I hunt have a ton of trash and it does very well. I hunt in discrimination mode but set it to minimum and listen to everything. The stock coil does a good job in trash but I hope a smaller coil comes soon. Not a hockey puck but a 4x6 or something like that. One other thing, if you want to use a higher discrimination setting and notch in nickels it is very easy to do. Even though it doesn't save the settings it only takes a couple of seconds to set up.
