We was m/d:twodetecting: civil war relic on a battle ground on the side of mountain in east tn. when i got a good tone. running in all metal... 26 penneys in 4 feet block 1940 =1 1942=1 1944=2 1945=1 1946=2 1950=1 1951=3 1952=2 1953=1 1956=6 1957=3 1958=1 1959=1 1960 =1 all wheat backs but one 1960. why on side of this mountain.... 2 musket balls, this copper point, and this big digging tool of some kind? it was hard to stand- up it was so steep .

Sounds like someone was burying their possesions on top of that mountain. Go back and look again.
 
There's probably a more level spot somewhere nearby, where someone had a homesite or was running a still.
 
Hi Bob, I was hunting near Rheatown and Pulled a few wheaties in amonst the bullets, I reckon just a pocket spill but I just knew a had some minies there, on my F75 they read about the same or close enough to think it's a bullet. One thing that I've learned is ya never know what will come out of the ground and I get surprised on just about every hunt. Good luck and pound that site...Jim
 
Man- I would suggest you hunt every square inch of the WHOLE area, what you got usually means there's MORE there, GOOD LUCK AND HH:detecting:
 
I agree the site needs to be hunted and hunt slow listening to every tone you have found a home site.that tool I believe is a adz used for shaping logs so there was a cabin there once.hunt every inch and again hunt slow-dig every thing best of luck to ya
