On a computer what is diff re standby or hibernate ??

when I put it on standby...it is ready to use with just a movement of the mouse! When I put it on hibernate, I have to click the button to start it just like I did when I first started it....but it comes back on faster and doesn't have to go through the whole startup process to begin running again!
I hope this explains what you asked and isn't as clear as mud with my answer!
I'm really not a Computer Wizard at all and actually I'm challenged most of the time!
