??? on 5" Coils for the Pro XL

TC-NM

Active member
I have a Pro XL and I was considering buying either the Whites Bullseye 5.3 or 5" EXcelerator's for trashy areas. Anyone have experience with EXcelerator products, coils that is. The coil itself is 5" circular DD. I read some where that it gives better depth at or around 25% and better target seperation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

TC-NM

Howdy TC-NM

There is lots of info on the 6000 PRO XL and XL PRO (same model), it is archived in the Analog Forum. The consesus being that the 5.3 Blackmax/ Bullseye coils are best for trashy areas when mounted on this model. I bought an EXelerator coil for my DFX, and it was defective from right out of the box. Let me say this, they did refund my money, and I have no agenda about bad mouthing their product.

I have a 6000 PRO XL with the 5.3 Bullseye coil and it does alright in the trash, but I also have the Royal 800. The 800 does very good in the thrash also, but is a deeper coil. Just my 2 zincs worth............Hombre

The EXcelerator coils made for White

The only DD coil available for your Pro XL that I'm aware of is the 4X6 shooter coil. I haven't seen or heard of a EXcelerator 5 inch round DD coil for the Whites 6.59 khz. detectors.

Thanks to all that responded. I'll try browsing the Analog Detecting Forum soon.

My bad!!!!!!, the 5" EXcelerator I was thinking is used on the GTI 2500 that also use.

Thanks,

TC-NM

I have heard a few neg reports on the excellerator coils used on whites and defects also i heard they are made in china which makes me shy away from them, but have heard better reports using them on minelabs.

Here is a Loop that I would recommend if you can find one. Jimmy Sierra stopped making them a while back and their getting hard to find. They are a 6" loop. This coil works, in trash, In or under high power lines or next to steel play ground equipment . I had to track my loop down by asking questions on Classified forums. I would get a PM to contact so & so, he may know someone who has one they maybe willing to sell! Finally found a Dealer who had one sitting in a corner that he took in on a trade.

ELIMINATOR LOOP
Another special purpose Applied Creativity loop, designed to eliminate signal interference from 60 cycle transformers, high tension wires, radio frequency and other metal detectors. Because of its size, this six inch loop works great in high trash areas and easily matches the depth of 8 inch plus loops. In fact, in harsh environments it gets much greater depth than your standard loop because it has the ability to operate at a higher sensitivity level with less interference. It doesn't lose coins on edge and pin-pointing is a breeze. It's very sensitive to tiny targets and its ability to handle bad ground mineralization makes it a good prospecting loop. When used in the "all metal mode" this loop does not detect from the top of the coil, thus it can be used under metal fences and playground equipment. When you see it, don't be alarmed by the thickness. That's what makes it work! It is designed for use on White's Pro's, Eagles, Quantums & Spectrums.

Dear Jimmy,
I'm having great success with your Eliminator loop. I'm finally able to hunt in some areas that were previously difficult to hunt because of power lines. Prior to using this coil the interference made it either unhuntable or made me reduce the sensitivity so much there was no chance of finding the deeper coins.

Also there's no more interference from the other guys in our club that have other White's detectors. Finally I can hunt and pinpoint in peace. The Eliminator makes my time more productive in the field.

I found a 1908-S Indian Cent. It was 6 inches deep and tilted. My partner's high-end detector couldn't pick it up. I had the smuggest look on my face.

[size=medium]TC, let me first just say you're fortunate to have an XL Pro. It's one of the best White's, or anyone, has ever made. Enjoy every opportunity to get out and hunt with it. :detecting:

Now, as for smaller-than-stock coils for the XL Pro, as well as the XLT and Classic III SL, Classic ID, and IDX/IDX Pro models. I am, and have long been, a fan of smaller coils since I hunt trashy sites, or those that are brushy or have building rubble. The Excelerator coils are made in Bulgaria and principally sold in the US by Kellyco. They are designed for certain models from several manufacturers, but in the White's product line, they are only compatible with the DFX, MXT, and M6. There isn't an Excelerator coil for the XL Pro.

Now, should you also find yourself in possession of an MXT or M6 (which can compliment the XL Pro) you might consider one of the smaller Excelerator coils, such as the 5" or 6" size. These coils are of the 'wide-scan' or 'Double-D' design rather than concentric, and I have found them to work excellently! I have been using a 6" Excelerator EQ2 coil on my M6 for a couple of months now, and used to use the 5" on my MXT's.

When it comes to the XL Pro, as well as the XLT, I have found these models, designed for a moderate to faster sweep than the slow-motion Classic series, do not work as well with the very smallest of coils. That is, I think the XL pro & XLT can do well with something like the Blue Max 600 or 5.3 Black Max or 5.3 Bullseye coils. All of these are based on the same 6

Again Thanks for all that responded. Can't go wrong with Monte's knowledge!

Happy Holiday's to all.
