Omega Sandbox

Spent a couple hours with the Omega yesterday using all metal mode in the sandbox of a new park and found a couple interesting things beside the cars and clad. Found a couple more cars but gave them away to some kids playing there. Was surprised to find the tooth cap. Sort of felt sorry for the person that lost it as it looked like they were in for some expensive dental work. The earring was nice even though it had one diamond missing. Also found a large treble fishing hook buried just beneath the surface of the sand. Lucky some poor kid didn't end up with it stuck in their hand. .....Joe

A couple park workers and their supervisor were there who I showed the hook to. They were appreciative and thanked me.

why use all-metal there. i always tune out iron in those type places because of the nails. of course some of my parks are built on old dumps and a good detector will pick up the trash from the dump.

After hunting the same sand boxes with discrimination several times then going back and hunting using all metal I have found quite a few things that I missed using discrimination. I know most the things that I have found later using all metal were there all along as they are more corroded and often deeper than normal. Anyway I really like hunting into the noise using 2 or 3 tones. Almost all of the nails that I encounter usually have a TID of 98 or 99 so they are easy to filter. Often I dig them out anyway just to get them out of the way for future detecting.

Curious what the tid on the crown was??

Fair amount of gold in a crown. You should make
a necklace !!!

The TID was jumping all over the place from 27 to the high 90's but I was also running the sensitivity at 99. Didn't realize the metal looking crowns contained gold. Necklace sounds like a neat idea but most people are put off about the thought of even touching it when I show it to them.
