Omega or MXT Pro?

rlett

New member
Hi Everyone,

I am a newbie who is leaning towards the Omega to use for coin shooting and occasional relic hunting. Has anyone use the MXT Pro, how does it compare to the Omega?

Thanks,
Bob

I had a mxt and an omega. I would go for the mxt hands down. The omega is okay; but the mxt is a lot more stable and a killer on nickels. More time detecting and less fiddling with the settings. Best of all worlds in my book!:detecting:

Thanks tabfinder......wish I could afford both.

I Never found the omega to be unstable but you may want to check ou the G2

I used to own a MXT and now own an Omega. I find the Omega a lot easier to carry and in my opinion is real easy to use. The MXT is a great machine for silver. I tested both on buried gold rings and the Omega did far better at least in my soil (high minerlaization). The Omega can be very economical compared to the MXT Pro so call around for the best deal. Some dealers will throw in extra coils and make a good deal.

Check out the Gold Bug Pro (not the Gold Bug 2) ..... Fishers ..... NEW Gold Bug Pro, it's the same machine as the G2 for less money.

You are partly correct. The new Gold Bug Pro and DP have the same controls, but different shaped buttons for the Ground Grab/Pinpoint or for the + and - manual GB and Disc. adjustment than used on the Teknetics G2. Minor difference, I know, but different.

The Gold Bug Pro does cost less than the G2, but it comes with the 5" DD coil. The Fisher Gold Bug DP IS the 'Pro' model, but it comes with the 11" DD like the Teknetics G2 and it sells for a higher price, also.

Then there is the physical packaging. All of these models use the same software, and they all use the Teknetics 'Greek' coils (yes, even the Fisher branded units), but the Fishers are also designed on the standard 'S' rod configuration while the Teknetics G2 uses the same rod/housing package as the Omega with the stand-up handle like of the T2.

So, performance will be similar, but there are some little differences to consider.

The Omega is a very good coin shooter it is the fastest way to clean out a area of coins it locks hard onto dimes and pre1982 pennies to 8" quarters to 10" with the 11"DD coil if you aer having EMI problems just take the disc knob and turn it clockwise as far as it will go and most of the EMI is gone and you still get pre 1982 pennies and silver, But if you are a relic hunter go for the mxt.
