Omega 8000

Just got a good deal on one but has the version 4 .and see a lot on here about version 5 and 6 never used one but looking forward to trying it . Any tips appreciated for settings my ground is pretty mild here in north Texas . I have a ETPro and love it other question would the coils interchange on these two machines?

I use the 4 tones a lot. Some wheat pennies and deep silver coins will bounce back and forth from the high tone to mid-high tone. I also like there being a separate tone for nickels. I like digging nickels and it also gives me a shot at a gold ring. The very best coil for the Omega is 8 inch concentric coil. It comes stock on the Gamma and that is why the Gamma runs smoother, quieter and deeper. It's a much better coil than the stock 10 inch elliptical concentric that comes on the Omega. I made that discovery several years back when I had both detectors and swapped the coils around.

@Tabman.out of interest would the Gamma concentric coil work on the T2 ?? its a shame that a Polo coil was never made for the T2 or infact a aftermarket coil either.I mainly use the Sharpshooter coil but all ways fancied trying a Concentric coil as well, must be a reason i guess why one was never developed.

Hi Barry,

I have an Omega 8000, but haven't had a chance to get out with it. Maybe if it ever stops raining here in North Texas, I'll have a chance to try it out. I did pick up an 8" concentric coil for it for the reasons posted.

Good hunting...

Give the 5x10 Elliptical DD coil (the white one) a try. It works great for an all arounder, and you can really pick through the trash by using the tip of the coil to pinpoint. The little 5 inch round DD gets amazing depth for its size as well. When you are setting the sensitivity, just remember when you go higher and it starts to chatter, it will get quiet when you are actually using the detector on the ground. I find that you get almost max depth at about 70 anyways.

For old homesites I like to notch out iron and use the single tone so that you get the VCO audio response. That way you can tell at the first beep how deep and how big the object is. For coinshooting in parks I like to run in 3 tone with the disc about 20. Just don't forget to dig those mid tones too!

I love my Omega, it's just such a versatile machine. I hope you like yours!

Yes sir! The ETP coil will work on the Greek series Teks. I also have an Omega on the way with the 8" concentric. Mine is a version 4, others I have spoke to have had both versions 4 & 6 and noticed no difference (as far as EMI & performance) between the 2 versions. Keep us posted on how you like the Omega Barry! HH.

LOL I agree on the rain . the Omega should be here tomorrow "Sat" so want get to try it til Sunday after Church been watching a lot of Vids and reading a lot and seems there are more pros than cons for this one . I have been primarily a Tesoro user but have decided that I like the Tek series detectors after trying the ETPro which I must say is an awesome little detector for the price .

picked a old 1886 penny out of a pile of junk the other night using the fisher 5" coil, don't use the Omega that much but every time I do it finds something good :clapping: maybe I should use it more
