Is it worth the cost to have it upgraded to version 6 and does it really help ? I have a chance to go relic hunting and have read about how well the omega is at relic hunting but I have the version 4 , Its not real chatty but that's here in my Texas soil I hear out east the soil is more mineralized and I really want to have a chance the only other machine I have a Troy Shadow X3 to take but it has fixed ground balance Thanks for any replys

I had a version 4 that quit working and when I sent it in for repair I "Specifically" requested that if there was any upgrades available that could be done to the detector while it was in for service that I wanted then done along with any repairs!!!!! (I included that information in with the problem report that I packed in with the detector as well)
I got it back and it was still version 4.

interesting ! I emailed them so will see what they say. Like I stated I want to use it for relic hunting this fall I only have the stock coil and the NEL sharpshooter coil so here in Texas I get decent depth which is about 8 inches on a dime with the nel coil never hunted out east and not sure how deep most targets are out there such as civil war bullets and such I know larger coils get better depth I will be hunting in all metal mode so I don't miss or disc anything out this is a one time chance for me so want to make it count

Upgrade is not available I am told by First Texas for the Omega 's with the version 4. Only way to get version 6 is to buy a new one go figure ! :rage: OH well guess I will just go with the version 4 for a while unless I find something else I like

I wonder how version 5 came about? I can tell a difference between it and the version 4 that I used to have.

not sure all I know is they told me in my email that there were no upgrades for the omega if I wanted a later version I would have to buy a newer model. So I decided to just keep it as is

I had the version 6 omega and sold it..it was terrible with emi..the only way to quite it down was to run it at 45 sensitivity..

The version 5 is a later version, but that doesn't mean its an upgraded version.

The thing that I noticed about my version 5 was that I could run the sensitivity lower to quieten the EMI and still get the same depth of my version 5 set at a higher sensitivity. If I lowered the sensitivity too much on my version 4 to quieten the EMI, I couldn't hear the high audio tone very well. They did something different to the version 5 and 6.

Weird. I run my Omega version 4 with a NEL Sharpshooter, at an old home site 100-200 yards from a small airport & I can run sensitivity well into the 70's with no noticeable chatter when swinging. It does chatter when setting on the ground to dig a t target, but once I pick it up & swing, no chatter. I was finding some 9" deep dimes (17 dimes total) & some quarters @ 7" running sensitivity at 69-70 the other day at an elementary school. Also found 6 nickels at 4" and 5" deep.

I ran the sensitivity @ 65-70 on my version 4 with the 11" DD pretty much all the time.

well I don't see much need in buying a newer version as I ran my sens at near 80 and no problem other than chirping when I set it down to dig target that was with the Concentric stock coil . I put the neL sharpshooter coil and no change other than better pinpointing

I bought a brand new one the first part of June and turns out its a version 4. I was hoping that buying new I would have gotten the latest version. That said, I haven't had any problems with emi
