Omega 8000 questions

luked

New member
wanted to get some ideas on running my Omega 8000 from some with experience with it.
im mainly a coinshooter. im running it normally at 70 sensitivity 3 tones disc at 16 and notch out iron, pull tabs foil scaps
i have the 11"DD coil
i have quite a few coins with it already but thought i would ask the members here if they wanted to offer some advise.

I run mine at disc 16 sensitivity as high as I can for the site and I do not notch any thing out

I had an Omega 8000 for a short time and still have its brother the F5. If you want maximum depth (older silver coins for example), I wouldn't notch anything if you can live with the extra noise of other targets. You will get maximum depth by not notching anything. I notch iron myself because I can't tolerate the noise in trashy sites. For less trashy areas, I leave everything open or use minimum disc just to take out small nails. Also, I know you mainly dig coins but if you want to find gold, by notching out foil, pull tabs and screw caps, you are essentially making gold targets invisible to the detector.

At 70 sens, you are at maximum sensitivity for that detector. If you increase it further, you increase threshold only which will help or be a nuisance depending on where you hunt and what you hunt for.

Always turn your sensitivity up and do a frequency shift to find the quietest frequency before you begin your hunt. That can make a difference on those fringe depth targets.
