Omega 8000 find at SC beach!

I took my Omega 8000 to the Charleston, SC area beaches for the first time a few weeks ago. Normally I use an older Sovereign, but I wanted to try out the Omega because it's so much lighter. Wasn't expecting to find much, as I have not found any gold jewelry in the last several family vacation trips (lost of clad, some silver jewelry, etc, but nothing "big"). Late in the afternoon of the first day, I found an engagement ring with 3 large diamonds and it was marked "Plat" on the inside of the band. I didn't get too excited because I figured the stones weren't real...didn't know for sure about the "plat", etc. The next day in the same area I found the matching wedding band! After doing some internet research I started to realize I had possibly hit the big time. I will get it appraised in a few weeks, but a local pawn shop (friend of a co-worker) offered $4000 for the set...said it was 3.5 carats total weight...so I am expecting a high appraisal. The rings were found in the sandy area of the beach and were only a few inches deep. Needless to say, I am a very satisfied Omega owner, and will probably never top this type of find again!

Awesome! Outta the house, coil to the ground, you just never know whats there to be found! Man! I need a zinger like that this year, thanks for the inspiration this am..I'm out the door and down the road, swinging for silver, going for gold!

If I remember correctly, it was a reading around "59"...I am still learning the Omega, but pulltabs have been in the 56-58 range on my machine.

I'll see what I can do...I'm new to this forum business...looks fairly simple to upload a file...

Man, that's a great find! How about some pictures?:)

great find sounds as if it had just been lost if they weren't any deeper than that.
Not to steal your thunder but someone is probably looking for expensive ring's like those and there have been circumstances not sure on this forum but for sure on others that people of lost items check these forums to find these items so you might watch what you post and in how much detail you describe it.
