Oldie but a goodie!

The first detector that I bought in the early 70's was a Jetco. I used it for 6 mo's and it was a worthless piece of junk. I sent it back and bought a Garrett. Since then all of my detectors have been a Garrett.

Yes I realize it's a toilet, I just bought it for the heckuva it.
Just so happen's it still work's!
I am trying to figure out how to get a picture of it on here but not going to well.
Any hint's would be appreciated!

Yeah like many of the hoards of detectors back then it was a junker. I bought one of the first Bounty Hunter BFO's and it wouldn't find a cannon ball in a tub of oatmeal.

Yes, I go way back with Garrett..My first was a whites with push button retinue and a C&C I think... Had a tiger on it! It was alright for the time.
Then I got a master hunter with just the depth on it and really took off with the old bronze coins. Thinking back the depth was really all I needed. When I got past that magic 3"... My heart would start to beat fast! That is for here where things don't sink far!
I really miss the needle meter display..I think that is better! The big wide meter was good!
Anyway... I still love Garrett, but do have 2 fisher Impulse for water and 3d coz it has meter and they have been great!

The Jetco BFO was the first detector I bought in 1971.I used it under the local high school bleachers and found at least a dozen mercury head dimes. Ron

My first detector was the Jetco.I had to get the Postmaster to get involved for me to get it.It was in the 1960's and I believe I payed $125.00 for it.At that time you didn't use head phones and I found out that you shouldn't detect around dogs.I guess the dog didn't like the high pitch sound so he took it out on my hind end.Other than that it was still as I expected at that time, and I was satisfied with it.It payed for itself back then and that's all you can expect. Some times I feel like using it again but I'm spoiled rotten with the new technology.

It sure would have been nice back in 1971 to have had a Ace 250 with a sniper coil to search under those school bleachers instead of that Jetco. That would have been like going back in time to the American Civil War armed with a AK47.They actually did have the technology to build and produce that rifle in the mid 1800's.
