I have permission to hunt an area where they are tearing down multiple houses for a community development project. I went to one that has some historical significance and on a hunch I ran my ACE 250 over some loose dirt where they had plugged the sewer. Ding, ding, I found two wheat pennies right off. I moved over about a foot and got another signal indicating a nickel or pull tab. About an inch deep I uncovered a Liberty Head "V" nickel dated 1907. Apparently it was dropped when the sewer line was laid in 1909 and was uncovered by the plumbing contractor. Finding a coin that old in this area is quite a feat since our history isn't that old. We became a state in 1907 which lends some significance to my find. I haven't been finding as much in this area as I had hoped and I suppose it's because everything good is really deep? Jim
