Oldest Coin Ever

I got my new Cibola a couple of weeks ago, but due to the weather here in NE Ohio, I couldn't try it out. I have been detecting for 10 years and I hunt hard!Up until recently, the oldest coin that I have found was an 1821 large cent. The oldest coin that I know of was a 1796 Spanish Real. I have been told that a woman detectorist found two of them the next town over several years back, but I can't verify that. I took my new Cibola to a place that I have hunted hard for four years and worked the outskirts of the area. I set the disc at just below nickle and the sens at 10, with the threshold pegged. I dug four or five squared nails at ten inches and I got a softer(not as shrill) tone that was relatively loud. At about 8 inches, I saw a dark coin about the size of a quarter, but much thinner. When I wiped it off, I saw a picture of a man with a large nose and the date 1780. I thought it was play money until I got home and checked it out. It was a two real! This is the oldest coin that I know of from my part of Ohio. I will try to get a picture posted, as it is in remarkable condition, though slightly bent.

My oldest coins to date is the 1720 Regal British Copper Halfpence and a 1723 Hibernia Irish (Farthing) Halfpenny . My part of the Hudson River Valley has some real old settlements (1600's). Keep up the good work...Al
