Oldest coin 1912 and a silver ring.

A friend of my mother's wanted me to MD her yard. The house is 70 years old. I meant to get a picture of it before I left, but I was all wobblely legged from the heat. Only 2 1/2 hours in the afternoon sun. We always complain about the weather. Last 7 days was all rain and barely got to the 70's. Today is like a sauna and it is 90 deg. It is going to be 90 deg. all next week.
The lady said her mother had a MD'er 30 years ago and was all over the yard. well this is what I found:

She wanted the sterling ring and the miner's tag. What can I say? So I got a picture of them before I left her house.
She can have the tag. It is in bad shape.

I liked the ring.

I found four wheat's: 1912, 1919, 1920 and 1924. There is a clothes weight and a nice brass token for a free cake of soap.

Back of token. The Palmolive- peet Co. bought Colgate in 1928. I would gess the token is older than 1928.

A lot of awesome finds in that pile. Looks like you had a very nice little hunt.Temp is 99 here for at least next 7 days

Put the show stuff in the left pocket and the keep, don't show stuff in the right. The ring would have gone in the right.

I like the token best and the ring second best so you did ok in my eyes. You are the wheat king.

I thought about you last night as I watched the show 30 Days and they did 30 days as a West Virginia Coal miner. I think Morgan Spurlock is from there too. It was one of the better episodes.

I spent many years in the mines. I was a "fire boss." I may go back in. Five more years and I can get a retirement.

Those Palmolive Tokens are found all over West Virginia. I found one in my yard, (Was my Parents Yard Back then.) as well as other tokens. I find a lot of tokens around Huntington, W. Va. Those are great finds. HH...Jesse.

I would have given it to her also. As far as me being an , I'd have to ask the wife. I'll get back with you on that one:rofl:
