I had my Surfmaster II modified 4 years ago, and I use it in freshwater only. It has been good to me. It is deeper then my DetectorPro Wader. It is hotter on gold after the mod.

John,, thanks for info. If you don't mind telling me ,, what modifications did Mr. Bill have to do ? and at what cost?. i will probably hunt in some hard dirt also what is your experience there with this machine ?? Good hunting , and thanks.. peg leg red

Bill added another amplifier circuit, and tuned the circuit to be more sensitive to gold. The cost was $100.00 + S & H. It was worth it to me, as I had purchased the machine used, and after Mr. Bill modified it, it was like a new machine to me. And, it is deeper as peveious in the real world too! It used to be my backup to my Wader, but it turned into my main machine. But recently I purchased a PI, so I will have to see how it fits into the water machines I use.
