Older model Garrett GTI 2500

Hello everyone. My 2500 model is probably 10 years old or older and I am wondering if I should update maybe the coil of any other parts on the unit. Any informationabout my detectoer would be greatly appreciated! thank you and happy hunting.:detecting:

Call Garrett. They can tell you what is available. I know there is a new mineralization chip, and that the new pro-formance coils are a lot sturdier with a lot less falsing. The posts I have read where folks have sent in older detectors for updates have all had very positive feedback. Garretts service is really great and they will take extremely good care of you.

The new stock imaging coil is much more stable then the white one. It doesn't false as much when banging the coil on an object, so it can be run with a higher sensitivity.

The new chip allows the detector to be used in highly mineralized areas where previously the detector would give that overload (ringing) sound. I got the new chip recently, and it hasn't made any difference in my soil, as I can run my GTI 2500 at nearly max. But....I may go on a trip where that is not the case and will be glad I got the chip.

You can contact Garrett directly for further questions and ask for Sue or Melinda.

That would be a matter of choice. The original coil works fine, it's just not as stable as the new one. The only addition you don't have is the mineral chip. If you don't hunt in mineralized round or plan to you really don't need that but should you choose to have it installed it costs about forty bucks.
