Older finds today...

Revisited an older section of town today, hunted vacant lot of unknown date but was pleasantly surprised to unearth a 1913 wheat cent right off the bat. Slowed down a bit and dug an iffy signal which turned out to be the find of the day to me, my first "V" nickel, a 1910. I kept going and dug a well worn 1918 Mercury dime, also dug 2 wheats stacked one on the other, 1914s and 1924 (the two with matching corrosion spots). I finished the day off with the "newest" coin being a 1936 wheat. For a face value of .19 cents, and 2 hours hunt time, That's the kind of day that keeps me going! (yes I will be hunting the back yard next visit)

Hey Brokensignal, I'm no more good than the next guy. Simple recipe: 1. Research to find older areas 2. get out and cover some ground in these areas. 3. Dig some of those iffy signals (a lot will be junk but occasionally you'll be rewarded). Thanks guys for the comments.

Roy C., I use the Tesoro Cortes, in discriminate mode, discriminate level between iron and foil, sensitivity high as it will go.

a quick visit this afternoon netted all pennies 1973, 1971, 1964, 1921, 1919 couple of pull tabs and a few snippets of aluminum siding. Will spend more time there in a few days.
