Older CZ3D question

Hey guys. I have the opportunity to buy a wall hanger 112 CZ3D with both coils. I was wondering what the chances are that it's a hot one. From what I've read, the 102's were are good but the 112's were mixed. What are the chances that a 112 that is tuned by Tom will be hot?

???? I had Tom do a CZ5 and it didn't help has being hot. It's still a nice detector and it was changed to a CZ3D and my brother loves it.

I don't don't think tom makes them that much deeper. But he will mke them run the best they can.

I know he can't tune the new CZ3d detectors to be as deep as the old ones. For what you want about $25 to ship and another $100 for the work and return.

What does your's air test now?

It's for sale and I'm considering buying it. It's a mint wall hanger with the 8 and 10-inch cois and hard case. I asked the owner o air test it, but I don't know if he can. He has no experience with detectors. The price is pretty high - $775 shipped. So without an air test, I guess I'll have to pass. I think it's an early 112:

If you want, tell him you have to know the air test numbers... Don't give any air test numbers, let him come up with that himself. If he is patient, you can walk him thru the air test. It may be a hot one.
Use a dime with the 8" coil. Sens at 5, disc at 0, Outside. GB at 5. Fresh batteries.
If he says it tests say at 11 to 12" you'll give him $600+-. The more I explain, the more I think he may not want to do this, or may do it incorrectly.
My 1021 air tests at 12-1/4" w/ the 8" coil and over 13" w/ the 10.5" coil, just to let you know the're out there.

I don't think it's going to happen. I asked for an air test from the start and he said he couldn't do it. Either he's already done it and doesn't want to tell me the results or he really doesn't know enough about detectors. I emailed Tom D and he said this is a later 1121 and that it's a real crap shoot, so I'm not going to pursue it further. Thanks!

When I was looking for a CZ I couldn't believe how stubborn some guys were about doing an air test. I didn't care if they felt the test was valid, if I asked for it I wanted it. I passed several deals.

Wise decision Reeseb, after Tom tuning you'd be looking at an outlay of $900 for a detector that may or may not be up to "design intent."
