Would the older style 6.59 coils used with the 6000 series two (blue box, I think) work on a newer detector with minor modification? I believe the mounting holes for attaching the newer style lower rods on the coil were smaller on the older coils and should be easy to mod but would the connector that attaches the coil to the detector fit? Are there the same number of wires and a switch from old style connector to the newer style be a problem solver. Maybe there are other compatibility problems?
I have a Classic ID with the 8 inch coil recall White's advertising a 30% increase in depth with the IDX Pro which has the 9.5 coil. There was a 10 inch coil available for the earlier series 2 models that I would like to try if the coil could be modified to work on the Classic.
