OldBeechnut's video inspired me to get off my lazy butt today.

The wind was blowing about 40 knots and storm clouds were coming in and out so I hadn't planned on hunting today. Hit another fishing pier. Nothing spectacular but the GT was hitting them deep. I started digging the iffy signals and was hitting coins past 15 inches. I only hunted for about two hours and was worn out. The GT is a beast even on our nasty beaches.

Cool. So when are you going to tell us if the GT is getting deeper than your older Sovereign model or not......But keep in mind you have some nasty ground there which might not show depth increase as much as what others have said over older Sovereigns.

Looks like you did well.........fare amount of loot for 2 hours. Those zinc pennies look just like some I pulled...Nice Hunt....joe

To close to call Critter. The GT seems like it might be a bit more sensitive because it does false more on iron than my Elite but so far I haven't seen any depth advantage on coin size targets. I have my Elite set up with the meter and S-8 coil for general hunting and use the GT bare bones with the 10 inch coil for beach hunting and other large areas. I think I might pick up the 10X12 SEF to use on the GT.

concerning the 10X12 SEF, I would recommend contacting some people who own them on the sov and see what they say about them for wet sand hunting.
Ive got one on my Etrac and its a great coil but the one I tried on my Sov was a nightmare on the wet sand(falsed no matter how low the sens was set or even set on auto) but was smooth on dry sand. the only other person I know with one had a different problem, she has to put her control box behind her back or the coil causes falsing. I have none of these issues with mine on the etrac, smooth as silk on the wet sand. I know this is only two 10X12 coils Im drawing a conclusion from, but I feel its worth mentioning. if you get a new one you can return it I believe. Im gonna check into this myself.
she also has the 15X12 and has no issues with it other than the cable is to short for hipmounting comfortably.

Thanks Neil, I'll have to check into it more. I was following some posts on another forum and this person has been doing very well with her Sovereign and 10X12 SEF on the beach but this is the only person I've seen using this combo for beach hunting.

Joe, this area was loaded with coins and very little trash. So many in fact that digging the deeper iffy targets was wearing me out so I starting just scooping up the shallower stuff. Never thought I would say 10-12 inch coins were shallow on our beaches but the GT picks these up fairly easy.

Yep nice haul there !!
