Ok guys, I posted a mssg about using a Eagle Spectrum down here in the Fl Keys on the beach's.
I also want a unit that will do good on normal land. I have a lot of old sites in Key West. Good history, not much space though.

Need a recommendation on a older Whites unit that will help me. Wet Sand/Dry Sand. Not so much totally in the water/underwater.
Maybe up to knees to start.
My head is spinning from all the new models. Whites/Fisher/Garrett/Minelab????? Even the old ones of those makers.

Sure I would love to go get a new Whites underwater rig. Or even a Minelab Excalibur 2. Maybe even a Garrett At Pro.

But I am kinda partial to Whites, used old Gold rigs up in the mountains of Oregon back in the early 90"s.
Been to Sweet Home and visited the biz. Customer service is #1.

Problem is I have been out of it for awhile. Never been in a Home Base where I have Ocean all around.

What do you think? Tell me old models and new models. Prefer old models due to cost right now.

Then maybe a spanking new one in a year when I get my feet wet :) Ha Ha
Thx Joey in Key West.

I'd go with a used Beach Hunter ID from White's. Get one with the 950 coil so you can use it at your old sites. The two frequencies it allow it to get good depth on your beaches. Water proof with discrimination. Learn to hunt it in all metal on the sand and how to super tune it for additional depth. Search Super Tune BHID so see how to do it. Adds several inches in depth in all metal on the beach. Price about $500 used.

BHID is a good one to start your hunting water.
I had to send mine in to get the 950 coil replaced with the 12 inch yellow because of falsing.
Great on land also .

Whites Classic IDX SL is a very good detector and would work fine for your needs. You can pick one up for a little less than $200 on the Internet. It is not waterproof though, so you would have to be careful not to tip up the coil to high or water could run down the shaft into the circuit box.
